Where can you surf fish for free in Port Aransas?

How does the Port Aransas beach permit work?

A change is pending: the Corpus Christi City Council voted 5–4 on July 28, 2026 to raise the permit to $20; the change needs agreement from all three beach entities and Texas General Land Office approval, and would apply to January 2027 permit sales, per local reporting. Is Mustang Island State Park worth it for surf fishing?
